Used when installing Subaru conversions into 1980-1983 Vanagons that were originally air-cooled.  

The transaxle in air-cooled Vanagons is about 1.5" shorter than in watercooled iterations.  When doing a Subaru conversion into an air-cooled van, you must accommodate this difference by using an adapter plate from the front trans mount to the frame member of the Van.  While you can do this fabrication work yourself, Van Cafe offers this easy bolt on solution.

NOTE: Air-cooled Vans will also need to lengthen their rear shift rod the same amount.  Here at our shop, we use a sleeve with an inner diameter the same as the outer diameter of the shift rod.  We then cut the rod, install the sleeve and weld at the correct length.
