This coolant pipe outlet gasket seals multiple locations in your 1983.5-1991 Vanagon.  See below for your application.

1.9L (1983.5-1985)

• Crossover pipe that bolts to the water pump and heads to the passenger side
• Block-off plate on the cylinder head near cylinder #3
• Crossover pipe from cylinder head to engine near #2 cylinder

2.1L (1986-91)

• Crossover pipe that bolts to the water pump and heads to the passenger side
• Metal flanged nipple that comes off the cylinder head near cylinder #2
  • Note: Originally these flanges were plastic parts but most have been updated to a metal version, which takes this gasket.
