Description Installation Instructions

The Propex HeatSource HS2000 is a reliable and efficient propane-fired, automatic thermostatically blown air heater that externally vents that mounts inside the vehicle. Boasting 6500 BTU, it will pump out plenty of heat for your cool-weather adventures. This heater features a frugal 1.4 amp current consumption and onboard self-diagnostic hardware and will give you worry-free, quiet comfort for years to come. The heater comes complete with all hardware needed for installation in any vehicle, but it does not include a connection to your fuel source. Instructions included. The heater is covered by the manufacturer one year warranty from date of original purchase.

The HS 2000 is the preferred heater for the Volkswagen Vanagon and, in particular, the Westfalia model. If you have a van that is similar in size to the Vanagon, this heater will work for you as well. Because the HS 2000 is so popular with the Vanagon, we produced an installation kit that will enable you to divide the fuel from your propane tank between the stove, fridge, and now your Propex heater. The Westy installation kit includes 1/4" copper tubing, the four-way brass fitting, brass fitting to connect the regulator to the four-way, and the compression fitting to connect the four-way to the copper tubing. The copper tubing will connect to the 1/4" compression fitting on the Propex Heater. The kit also includes clips and screws to secure the copper tubing to a surface. Please click here to purchase the installation kit. The preferred mounting location is underneath the rear seat. Some Vanagon owners prefer to remove the rear heater core. If you do as well, please click here for our rear heater core elimination kit. If you are looking for a similar heater that mounts externally, please click here for the HS2211.

I just wish the installation and operational directions were more detailed and up to date. I once swapped out my propane tank with a full one and forgot to open the valve. The heater went into fault mode and I had no idea how to clear the fault. Turned on and off, disconnected power, still did not clear the fault. Later I learned I needed a very small paperclip to accomplish the reset, would of been nice to have that information in the installation/owners manual.

Replaced my 2000 Grove TMS Crane cab heater with this.  Works like a charm, set it and forget it.
Took a couple of hours to replace, only had to buy gas fittings.
Unit was shipped quickly and the cookie was great!

I bought a heater from VanCafe/Rocky Mountain Westy. The heaters were out of stock so I opted to be notified when back in stock. When I received the in-stock notice via email, I immediately ordered it; it was delivered by priority shipping at no charge. VanCafe has superior customer service and follow through. I can't rate the heater now since my ProMaster won't be delivered until February.

4 of 5 Great heater. I bit quarky. March 31, 2020
Reviewer: ProVanClan from USA
This is a great heater for your small camper, van or RV. It's quiet in operation and exhausts all combustion fumes outside, so you can operate it in a closed space. So far it's been reliable except for a few minor problems. First its very sensitive to voltage range. If you go over 14 volts, as happens often with my battery charger it will fault. This can be a real problem if your van is unattended and you want to keep the water tanks from freezing. You will need to manually reset the heater to clear the code. Second it the outside case gets warm to almost too hot to touch. Obviously its a heater and this isn't a major fault but something to be aware of if you install in a tight spot, like next to a plastic tank. Overall a great buy, albeit expensive.
