Bilstein HD shocks are the most common shocks sold for 2WD Vanagons. They ride firm when needed in cornering, they ride soft and not jarring when on bumpy roads. But! Some people find them to be too soft (front dipping when hitting brakes hard) especially when paired with original 25+ year old worn springs. Koni's or "revalved" Bilsteins are both stiffer and will do a better job of compensating for weak/worn springs. Rear shock bolt available here.
