Fits 83-91 Vanagon's including Syncro. The nylon ball wears down and creates sloppy shifting, also the grooves can wear and in turn wear out the shift selector shaft as well. While doing this job be sure to clean out the cup that it sits in, grease it back up really well and make sure that you have a good boot over it to prevent dirt getting in there.
