As VW stops making more and more parts for our beloved Vanagons, what at first seems to be a challenge, often becomes an opportunity. The opportunity is to make a comparable or better product and offer it at a substantial savings. In conjunction with fellow Vanagon enthusiast and glass expert, Stacy Schneider, we have come up with a high quality mirror replacement. The mirror is made with German glass, cut and finished in the US, matching the size and shape of the originals, while saving approximately $50 from the price of VW's replacement glass (before they became obsolete). This mirror glass does not replace the old glass, but sticks over the top of the existing mirror which is likely cracked, discolored or disintegrating on the outer edges. These are made in flat (intended for driver's side) and convex (intended for passenger side and will have objects in mirror are closer than they appear printed on it). Because the convex mirror has an arc to the surface (both your original one and the new one), you must stick a convex to a convex, and vice-versa you must stick a flat to a flat, or the mirror will likely crack. This mirror is the convex version for the passenger side. Please check before ordering that you do have a convex mirror on the passenger side. To save money someone may have previously replaced the mirror glass with the flat version - just make sure you have the script in the mirror before placing your order.

Strong adhesive pads are affixed to the back of the glass. Clean old mirror surface well and press on new mirror firmly. Align correctly as you only get one shot at it - the adhesive is very strong!

Mirror glass measure 5-5/8 x 7-7/8 - just to be clear these are the inserts for the power mirrors and NOT for the floppy stationary manual units.
